It should be clear that this book was written well prior to events that unfolded in Israel on and after the 7th October 2023.
Purpose
In the opening pages, the author explains that her aim is that through explanations about the End Times and glimpses into Israeli society, it will become easier to connect with Israel in prayer in these last days.
She certainly succeeds in this aim with many useful hints across the eighteen chapters of her book. Those with a heart for Israel do need guidance in this area of intercession, and this is well provided for here.
Testimony
In her introduction, Ms Weissman provides an interesting and helpful testimony into her journey from attending a Reform synagogue when growing up – one of 42 autonomous synagogue communities within the UK – to her later years as a Jewish believer in the Lord Jesus. This occurred despite opposition from her family, who tried to ‘save me from my supposed error’ (p12).
As a new Jewish believer in Yeshua, Rosamund immediately spent six weeks in Israel to work on a kibbutz, returning with ‘a determination to continue my search for God through my Jewishness’ (p10).
Contents
Her approach to the Word of God, and especially the interpretation of biblical prophecy, is more literal than allegorical, which, she admits, ‘leads me to a pre-millennial understanding, which you will find reflected in the pages within’ (p7).
Those with a heart for Israel do need guidance in this area of intercession, and this is well provided for here.
Each chapter ends with a Hebrew word for us to learn, though many of these are ones that readers of this kind of book will already be familiar with. Each word is linked with the chapter we have just read.
The chapters cover all the expected material, including the prophecies in Daniel and Ezekiel, and the likely rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem by the Temple Institute. She explains their preparations and helps us understand the mindset of the ultra-Orthodox Jews.
Conclusion
There is much to ponder throughout the book, not least for those who want to know more about the likely scenarios of the time of ‘Jacob’s Trouble’. At the back of the book there are two charts, one of the chronology of relevant history, and another looking at the beast empires in Daniel and Revelation.
Overall, the book is well referenced, with further resources recommended, many of which will already be familiar to our readers.
