At a time when Britain is becoming more and more secularised, with society marginalising the Christian presence, it is extremely important for Christians to be prepared to share the gospel by all means possible. Evangelism is still often thought of as bringing in special evangelists to speak to large centralised meetings, but this is no longer practical or viable in this present pandemic.

'Reaching Out' is drawn from the archival writings of Monica Hill, spattered with many personal experiences, and explores an effective way of combining a sharing of the Christian message where it is most needed, where it can be most effective and in a way that can produce results. It is believed that "building on the past, to understand the present will bless the future."

This book provides a brief overview of evangelism in Britain over the past four or five decades and gives some unique insights into what has been happening in areas where community development principles have been applied to evangelism, with exciting results. It gives many stories from the author’s personal experience of working in the East End of London.

This limited edition was produced for the annual Evangelists’ Conference in January this year led by J John and his team. Covid restrictions forced a last-minute cancellation of the conference, but copies of the book had already been printed to give to each of the attendees.

There is much more that could be added on evangelism in the post Covid era, and we invite contributions from PT readers. If sufficient interest is shown, during the summer months, a second edition will include other aspects like ‘discipling’ and surveys that can be used by local fellowships.
