'Jesus Saves' taxi service

According to the prophet Joel, the ‘last days’ will witness an outpouring of the Spirit in which old men will dream dreams and young men see visions.

Enough!

In my article 'Enough is Enough', I referred to a vivid and beautiful dream I had of a poor farmer who was more than happy with his lot because he loved Jesus, and of how a special taxi service called ‘Jesus Saves’ took visitors along the rocky road to his remote farm in a mountain paradise.

My article basically amounts to a call for Britain to follow South Africa’s example of coming together in prayer to Jesus for help with our nation’s severe problems.

Farmers & Taxi-drivers

A couple of days later, on Wednesday, I received an email from the Joy! News digital service in South Africa, which told how farmers and taxi associations have come together to restore peace and harmony to a nation in turmoil following terrible violence and destruction. All of which has served to exacerbate the extreme poverty already felt in many areas, especially in KwaZulu-Natal where I grew up.

One of the Joy articles was headlined ‘Citizens show generosity of spirit and care in the midst of a life-threatening crisis’, and read as follows:

Possibly the biggest and most impactful source of support and unification was showcased by various Taxi Associations. They just bonded together and refused to allow the carnage to reach a multitude of areas where they stood fast in their conviction that destruction will not be allowed into the areas they serviced…They were and will continue to safeguard the future of the people they serve.”

Joy magazine is reputed to be the biggest-circulation Christian publication outside the United States, and I have contributed occasional articles myself.

Interpretation

As for my dream, the prophet Joel spoke of the days in which we are living. There would come a time, he said, when God would pour out his Spirit on all people. “Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions” (Joel 2:28).

Well, I am past 70 now! The poor farmer in a remote mountain paradise clearly refers to South Africa, specifically KwaZulu-Natal. His house is falling around his ears, but he has enough chicks and ducks to feed his family. And he is very happy – because he has Jesus!

In my dream, a young boy called me on the phone to ask when the next taxi was due. “What taxi?” I asked. And he explained about the special service to the farmer’s village.
